Nestled in the heart of Ottertail County's 1,048 lakes, Henning has much to offer the many tourists who frequent the area and keep returning year after year.

Henning is the gateway to fishing, hunting and water recreation in the nearby lakes. Rolling farmland, modern dairies and hardwood forests cover the county. It is located 90 miles from Fargo-Moorhead and 175 miles from Minneapolis in beautiful Otter Tail County in the west central part of Minnesota. Even though the 2000 Census lists the population at 772, the city has many "big" city things to offer. The Henning Chamber of Commerce and the city’s EDA promote the business community. The community takes pride in their K-12 school and a Christian School. There are three Lutheran churches as well as Methodist, Baptist and a Catholic Church. Medical needs of the community are covered by the clinic, skilled nursing care facility, dentist, eye clinic, chiropractic office and a superb ambulance service. The Henning Fire Department of 25 volunteer members is dedicated to provide service to the Henning area. Willow Creek, the new Senior Housing opened  in 2004. The city’s natural gas system extends outside of Henning to furnish natural gas to adjacent rural and lake customers. The local telephone company offers high speed internet and digital cable. The city is proud of the small airport with an active EEA Chapter. There is a recently built terminal building and a newly installed fuel credit card system. Henning’s newspaper, the "Citizen’s Advocate" publishes weekly news and happenings for Henning and the surrounding areas.

The community enjoys the small town rural life with the benefits of beautiful scenery, complete services, excellent retail stores, great schools and churches and wonderful neighbors!
